Our solutions reliably detect intrusion into hazardous areas and trigger immediate protective measures if necessary – whether by slowing down or stopping robot movements. This not only ensures the protection of employees, but also supports a continuous and trouble-free production process.
Particularly in the manufacturing and automation industry, where robots perform tasks such as welding, assembly or packaging, our sensors provide the necessary protection in accordance with international standards such as ISO 13849. In addition, they enable seamless integration into existing control systems through appropriate interfaces, thus contributing to the flexibility and future-proofing of production systems.
Safety for cobots and other robotic arms
Production and warehouse processes are becoming increasingly automated – the use of cobots is on the rise. Cobots not only increase productivity, they also reduce human error and ensure a lower-risk working environment. But how can risks be minimized if the speed of work is increased at the same time?
Although integrated optical sensors or a force cut-off offer safety, they are sometimes not reliable enough in dusty environments or at very high operating speeds. To protect both workers and robots in the event of a collision, the additional use of tactile sensors is recommended.
Our SENTIR safety contact bumper is an extremely fast-switching sensor with excellent damping and overtravel. An immediate stop signal is triggered on contact. ASO has developed a version with a suitable bracket especially for robot arms, which offers all-round protection during rotational movements.
The safety contact bumper can be customized in terms of shape, color and material. With more than 1 million switching cycles, the SENTIR bumper is also extremely durable and wear-free.
Securing work areas
For robotic applications with a large range of motion, extremely high speeds or heavy goods being handled, additional area protection can ensure safe interaction between humans and robots. Our SENTIR safety contact mats are surface switching sensors that trigger an immediate stop signal when stepped on. A SENTIR mat consists of a high-quality sensor element that is seamlessly encased in polyurethane. This extremely robust construction is IP 65 certified and therefore offers an extremely high level of protection against external influences. The mat has a textured surface. For very high mechanical demands on the surface of the mat, aluminum or stainless steel coverings are also available. Up to 10 mats can be connected together. Special shapes, several switching zones or individual colors can also be realized.
